What belongs here
The fitness challenge, fundraising plans, interests, general feelings and routes to support. Every story should respect children’s welfare and other people’s privacy.
What stays private
This project does not publish case files, recordings, private correspondence, allegations against identifiable people or details identifying a child’s proceedings. Changing a name alone is not a sufficient privacy check.
Family-court information
In England and Wales, section 97 of the Children Act 1989 restricts publication likely to identify a child as involved in relevant ongoing proceedings, including their address or school.
Section 12 of the Administration of Justice Act 1960 restricts publication of information from certain private proceedings. Protection for court information does not simply end when a case finishes.
Check the applicable rules and every relevant order. Where publication needs permission, obtain it first. This page is general information, not clearance for an individual story. Other UK jurisdictions have different rules.
A transparency order is not a general licence
Practice Direction 12R distinguishes reporting by authorised reporters from publication by parties themselves. The template order does not let a party publish material which would otherwise be contempt of court.
A parent’s image, name or other details, alongside information about proceedings, might identify a child indirectly. Our editorial approach excludes references connecting a named or pictured person to their own proceedings.
For future contributors
Consent, final-wording approval and an identification review will be required. Court-related material also needs an appropriate legal check. Stories will not publish automatically, and we will not request court documents.
Before sharing a personal account publicly
Check the current orders and take legal advice on the exact wording and images. Ask the court for clarification or permission where needed.

- Encouragement is welcome. Share general feelings, useful support links and reflections on your own wellbeing.
- Protect identities. Do not name or identify children, former partners, other families, schools or locations. A changed name may still leave someone recognisable.
- Keep private material private. Do not post court documents, case details, recordings, private messages, screenshots or allegations about identifiable people.
- No hostility or pressure. No harassment, blame, threats or calls to contact another family. Children’s safety comes first; reconnection must never be forced.
- Moderation will protect people. Content that breaks these boundaries may be removed and accounts blocked. Sharing a story does not guarantee publication.
- Use the right support. This project offers neither counselling nor legal advice. Comments and messages are not monitored for emergencies.
